Cleaning

You might not realise it, but every time you clean your home, you are putting hundreds of dangerous chemicals into the atmosphere.

So why not shake up your cleaning routine by using ecological cleaning products instead?

Putting the environmental benefits aside for one moment, remember that standard cleaning fluids are a toxic cocktail which could have a negative affect on you and your family’s health. Research has shown that children exposed to non-ecological cleaning products have a 400 per cent higher chance of developing asthma.

The use of toxic cleaning products has also been linked to the following conditions:

  • Depression
  • Skin problems
  • Respiratory problems
  • Sore joints
  • Migraines and headaches
  • Cancer
  • Birth defects
  • Tiredness

A cocktail of chemicals

If you look at the cleaning products you have in your home, you will no doubt find that you have many sprays and bottles for a wide range of household cleaning duties. Have you ever stopped to think what is in that spray or why it works so well? Can you imagine how many chemicals might be required to cut through that work-top grease?

The chemical soup contained in your cleaning products gets washed down drains where it poisons rivers and underground water resources. The hundreds of plastic bottles we throw away each year can take up to one thousand years to decompose.

Many laundry cleaning products are also derivatives of phosphates- one of the largest polluters of the world’s oceans.

Eco-friendly cleaning products

At GreenASAP, we want to encourage you to use eco cleaners which are produced without environmental degradation and do not cause harm to your health. Avoid labels which state a product is ‘harmful’, ‘poisonous’ or ‘toxic’. Look for biodegradable products which contain citrus solutions and essential oils.  Search for solutions which explicitly state that they contain no petro-chemicals.
